Game Maker programs won't use more than 14% of my cpu's power, even when they're running incredibly slow (like 4fps when it should be 30fps). I have 8gb ram and the program has very low graphical demands (and my comp has shown that it can run some pretty crazy graphics). Does this have something to do with the multiple cores / multi-threading? If a program is not multi-threading capable, will it only be able to use a small percent of my cpu's power like this?
btw, it's an i7 2630 quad. And the program can run fine if I decrease the size of the grid that it's calculating, and this always happens when the load gets too big, so it's not a problem with the program itself.
EDIT: oh, and it's not the power management either, the maximum cpu speed is set to high.
