[Ideapad Z480] Dolby Home Theater suddenly not working

2014-09-01, 14:48 PM

hello everyone,

i have a problem with the dolby home theater (DBT as i call it) today. i explain it. okay it's like this. usualy when DBT is turned off, the volume is normally low and all those sort of normal speaker settings. when i click the DBT icon on the tray, usualy it brings up 3 profile which is Movie, Music & Game. but today, it's not working. whenever i i turn it on, there is no changes in the sound at all (volume, bass, pitch, etc). even the equalizer slider does no changes on the sound produced from the speaker. i test it out on my headphone, external speaker and theres no changes. but the sound is still present with no changes made from dolby. can anyone provide me a solution?

thank you and sorry for the bad language, i have trouble typing in english.

hi zarulhairee,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Just to verify, have you upgraded to Windows 8.1? If you have then your issue might be similar to this thread.

If you have installed the Realtek Audio Driver for Windows 8.1, try to uninstall it and install the Windows 8 version from the D:\Drivers\Audio folder or from the link below:

Realtek Audio Driver for Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit) - IdeaPad Z380, Z480, Z580

Regards

hi zarulhairee,

Thanks for update. Have you considered re-installing the audio driver above for Windows 8?

hi zarulhairee,

Thanks for the update. In any case, can you consider uninstalling your current audio / dolby driver and reinstall the driver below (which installs both the Audio Driver and Dolby Home Theater):

Realtek Audio Driver for Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit) - IdeaPad Z380, Z480, Z580

Alternatively, you can also reinstall just the Dolby Home Theater by extracting the above file and navigate to the C:\Drivers\Realtek Audio Driver\PCEE4 folder.

hi there,

thanks for the suggestion. it worked. the audio equalizer from dbt is working like it was before. but there is something else, after i have uninstall real tek audio and dolby home theater, i manage to successfully reinstall only the real tek driver. i tried to install the dolby home theater but an error has occured "dht cannot be installed". so i installed the dolby advance audio only. not sure though but it's working fine now.

recap : dolby home theater installer error = "dht cannot be installed"
