Re: Ideapad Z500 Screen Replacement

Hi, I'm one of the unfortunate people who bought lenovo z500 for its good performance but never really cared for the cheap display, now regretting about it.

I see in the forum you have replaced the screen. Are you sure the model of which you posted the link is compatible? Because the local guy says that it could come with a different socket or cable that wouldn't be compatible with z500.

My laptop's model number is 59380476. Can you tell me what's yours? It should be on the sticker at the bottom of the laptop.

Please do tell me. It's only one shot for me because if I do purchase it, it's gonna cost me like half my salary at the moment.

Re: Ideapad Z500 Screen Replacement

Hi tvin7,

i've tried to replace the screen (B156HW03), but i don't succeeded.

The socket seems correct (40 pin), but the result is that in the screenshot!

My laptop model is: 59347633

Could you tell me the model of your video cable? Mine is DC02001MC10.

Thank you!

Re: Ideapad Z500 Screen Replacement

@aroncazzola The local laptop repair guy says that he'll have to unscrew the entire laptop to take out the screen and check on its details. That should totally make it lose the warranty claims. (I have just extended the warranty for 2 more years). Do you know any way I can know about the screen's details without all the risky job of disassembling the laptop parts? And thanks for sharing your screenshot. It's kinda stupid to ask but have you deleted the previous video drivers & installed new ones?

Re: Ideapad Z500 Screen Replacement

@tvin7.
Hi, you don't need to disassemble completely the laptop to change the screen. It's very easy. You only need to remove the soft frame around the screen and unscrew four screws in the edges. To remove the frame you should use a plastic knife or a plectrum (it's very useful in this case) or just your fingernails. I'll don't break any warranty label.

Re: Ideapad Z500 Screen Replacement

@aroncazzola ok alright. I'll watch some video instructions on YouTube and try to check on it. By the way can you tell me which screen model you purchased and from where?

Re: Ideapad Z500 Screen Replacement

@tvin7

I bought a B156HW03 screen, at www.laptopscreen.com: i've ordered N156HGE-LB1 but they 've sent B156HW03 saying that it's fully compatible.
I forget to answer at your question about drivers: the screenshot shows the bios menù, before windows starts (or linux, in my case). I've tried also to boot the OS and change display resolution but nothing changes (with Windows neither  linux).

If someone here who has changed his screen help us, it would be really appreciated!

Re: Ideapad Z500 Screen Replacement

i just had my laptop's front panel opened and here's the photo.

I think it's better to compare the laptop screen specification:

LP156WHU-TLA1 : http://www.panelook.com/LP156WHU-TLA1_LG%20Display_15.6_LCM_invitemdetail_69211.html

N156HGE-LB1 : http://www.panelook.com/N156HGE-LB1_Innolux_15.6_LCM_invitemdetail_67420.html

B15HW03 : http://www.panelook.com/B156HW03%20V0_AUO_15.6_LCM_invitemdetail_67973.html

But I think you should get your screen replaced because the seller didn't send you what you had ordered.

Re: Ideapad Z500 Screen Replacement

@tvin7

Except for the contrast ratio, N156HGE-LB1 and B156HW03 seem identical to me Smiley Frustrated
Have you taken a picture of your cable too?

Re: Ideapad Z500 Screen Replacement

@tvin7

Here it's my cable: the word "Dual" that's in your cable label makes me think a lot ...
Also your cable has been made in 2015, my in 2006 ....
I try to buy a more recent and dual version: i suggest to wait until i've done.
