Ideapad Z570 - can it support a SATA III SSD?

I'm looking into replacing the slow 5400 rpm HDD in my Z570 laptop, and I was wondering if anyone knows if it can support a SATA III SSD?

Re: Ideapad Z570 - can it support a SATA III SSD?

jhollender,

Z570 is only Sata II. So if you were to get a SSD with SATA III, you will only use it at SATA II speed and not at SATA III speed.

Please search around and see if there are any reviews with users using a Z570 with SSD as there have been compatibility issues regarding different SSDs due to the type of controller used.

Thanks.

Re: Ideapad Z570 - can it support a SATA III SSD?

Hello,

That link says that Lenvovo z570 has a SATA 3 Port.

Also checking with hwinfo it says that Port 0 and 1 support SATA 6GB/s. See attachement:

So does it really support just SATA II?

Should I test with another program to be sure?

@mo0n_sniper

What software did you use to test that? I'm confused, EVEREST tells me my HDD is SATA II....I'm planning to upgrade to an SSD with Sata III.
