Hi there, New to this But would like to find out how to get into the bios in order to use the USB recovery drive that I have made, It's a late 2014 Z710 running windows 8.1.
The Machine is OK but I really think Lenovo should give purchasers the necessary information so that in the event of a catastrophic failure of the hard drive it could be easily revovered to a new one.
many thanks to all who read or answer this post.

Does pressing "F2" at the time of boot take you into BIOS?
To do this, Shutdown the laptop.
Press power button and start pressing "F2" key repeatedly until you get into BIOS.
(You can enable USB boot once you are in BIOS)
Here is the manual for your latop -
Let me know if this worked.

After you shut down your Z710, press the small, round metallic button that is to the right of the big round power button. That button will take you to a small menu, which let you select to go to BIOS or choose a different boot device.
Take a look at the upperleft corner of this Z710 keyboard picture:

yes I know about the small button but as far as I know this only lets you recover back to factory.
Again I wish Lenovo would give some guidance
Are we talking about the same Lenovo laptop model? I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Z710.
You can download a copy of the laptop's user guide:
Chapter 1, page 2, referring to the small button "Novo Button". It presents a menu of choices. Recovering back to factory default is only one of them. Another one is going into BIOS set up utility:
When the computer is off or in hibernation mode, press
this button to start the Lenovo OneKey Recovery system
or the BIOS setup utility,
or to enter the boot menu.
