Ideapad p500 battery issue

2016-05-31, 22:16 PM

Hello there,

I have an ideapad p500 for about five years and there is something wrong with it. I plugged the AC adapter in and it wouldn't charge at all. I didn't see "Plugged in, charging"... I recently bought a new AC adapter and it still doesn't work. Any idea why? Thanks!

Welcome to the Forums Rzang.

  1. Unplug AC adapter (remove from notebook).
  2. Remove main battery
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds (power drain)
  4. Replace main battery
  5. Replace AC adapter

Update us how it goes.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I actually tried to disassemble my laptop and I couldn't find the main battery... Is it embedded?

Thanks again.

Select the other setting (maximize battery life) from the 'Energy Management' dialog box instead "optimized battery health".

Also, upgraded the battery firmware with the available download

Update us how it goes.

I downloaded the firmware and it drained my battery.... Now I can't use my laptop. I don't know what to do. Should I ask someone to repair it? I need help.

We are sorry to hear that your issue has not yet been fixed.

I would suggest you to visit the nearest Lenovo service center for hardware assistance.

Whatever solutions I discovered in the Forums, they all failed. I ended up taking P500 apart and replacing the battery that I bought for 31 dollars.

Hello, I have a Lenovo IdeaPad p500 and I'm facing charging issues. When I unplug power cable when laptop is switched on, it turns to zero percent and switch off. But when changed after shut down, can switch on without plug in and use for hours without charging but battery percentage would be zero. When I uninstalled Microsoft battery drivers I can unplug while laptop is switched on and it does not shut down. However when I restart the Microsoft drivers are automatically installed and same problem occoured
