Ideapad y510p M.2 SSD Upgrade

2019-03-20, 12:59 PM

Hi,

I'm have m.2 SSD 256GB Integral, can I upgrade it to 1GB Trekstor

https://www.amazon.de/TREKSTOR-SSD-Modul-interne-Festplatte-Schreibgeschwindigkeit/dp/B07N1248K2/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1550842961&sr=8-7&keywords=sata%2B2242&th=1

did Lenovo y510p have some limitation to storage capacity? If 256GB working well did we 1TB working also?

Best regards,

  Dejan

Hi Chawa,

Greetings.

The initial intention of having the m.2 SATA to those selected models is for cache so OEM would not have it for larger capacity.

There is no confirmed case that I can get as of the moment with 1TB. Personally, I would not encourage any purchase just yet but perhaps have it tested first since it is pricey upgrade.

I hope this helps you decide on how it is best to proceed.

Regards

Hi All,

So can you please confirm that a Transcend 512GB SATA III 6GB/S MTS430S 42 mm will also work on y510p? There is no limitation on m.2 connector? In hardware manaula it is stated ssd slot 256gb but without specification that this is min or max.

Thanks.
