Is an upgrade to Intel AC-7260 possible from Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 on Lenovo P500?
I want to have faster connection on my Lenovo laptop.
I asked Intel customer service and their answer is to ask the laptop manufacturer.

Hi Breen ,
Based from the hardware manual (item 14 page 96) Intel AC-7260 is not among the listed compatible WLAN card for this model and may not be recognized by the BIOS.
BIOS only allows to boot with an "authorized" adapter installed. If an unsupported card is detected, the BIOS prints a message on the screen and stops the system:
1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in - Power off and remove the miniPCI network card.
The card's sub-vendor PCI-ID (which can be seen using lspci -v) is checked against a whitelist in the BIOS.
Similar to this discussion , others would try changing BIOS but there's a danger on bricking the board and other just plug in a USB AC WLAN adapter instead while some that have a spare would simply try it nonetheless.
Hope this help answer your query.
