LENOVO Y50 RANDOM SHUTDOWN

I bought Lenovo Y50 - i7, 16 gigs of ram, 256 GB SSD, GTX 860m
Since then its been randomly shutting down with a noisy pop sound. It has happened 3 times already, once every week.
When its about to shutdown i can still see the game (occured only when gaming) running for 5 seconds but i cant move the character nor the keyboard works, and then pop, its shut down.... I can then start the PC again without no problem... This is really frustrating also seeing other users having this problem, if Lenovo will not respond, i might just return the laptop and buy another one. I updated BIOS yesterday so I shall see what happens... PLEASE RESPOND!!!

Can you check your temperatures? It sounds like an overheating problem.

Re: LENOVO Y50 RANDOM SHUTDOWN

has this been fixed for you? I have the latest firmware on a y50, i5, 8gb ram and this will happen consistently if I use the laptop while unplugged. if it's plugged in, no issues, but within 5 mins of unplugging it, it will shut down with a pop

Re: LENOVO Y50 RANDOM SHUTDOWN

Hi,
Yeah i solved this problem pretty much by installing new BIOS. It seemed that the BIOS fixed it and since then (6+ weeks) it had not happened. My problem was dufferent from yours, because mine shut downed even with plugged settings Smiley Happy. You can try to update BIOS from official Lenovo Sites, good luck with this!
