I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Y400
Intel i7-3630QM 2.4GHz
nVidia Geforce GT 650M
Windows 8 64-bit
This is the first laptop I own (I've always been using desktops) and I first noticed that leaving my laptop in sleep would drain the battery at 10%/hour, so I decided to leave it in hibernate instead. Same thing happens, the battery drains at 10%/hour, so I try Shutting it Down... Same thing happens, Battery drains at 10%/hour. So I removed the battery waited several hours, plugged it back in, and noticed that it does NOT drain to any noticeable amount. All of this is happening when the laptop is not being charged by the way. Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome to Lenovo forums
Kindly try doing the following steps and then check and get back to me
1-Totally shut down the machine
2-Remove the battery and the charger
3-Press and hold on the power button for 20 seconds
4-connect the charger only but do not start the machine
5-press and hold on the power button for 10 seconds
6-start the machine normally

I have found a solution to the problem. All I had to do was turn off the fast boot settings in the power options. Now there is no noticeable drain when the laptop is shut down!
