hi all! couldn't find that topic.
Got a strange issue. When AC is unplugged (battery ~100% charged) the laptop would start and before loading the system or even entering efi/uefi it shuts down as if the power was removed instantly (with that nasty sound from HDD). The laptop then remains off. Tried several times - same repeated.
When (afterwards) connected to AC it repeats the same once but then shortly starts up itself and boots the system normally.
Same happens, regardless of previous power state - shut down/ sleep / hibernate. The laptop wouldn't boot on battery and when connected to AC it finally boots a system from scratch.
The Y580 is ~4 y.o., system lives on SSD, battery was never replaced, works steady on battery though not 3,5 hours as before but only 2.
OS win 10/SSD + win8.1/HDD. UEFI-configured bios.
Could it be the sympthom of battery aging or is it anything else? anyone got a clue?

Hi there, Alex -
Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.
You can also start by flushing out all static, remove battery and AC adaptor and hold down power button for about 15 seconds.
Check if issue persist in safe mode or not. Also try starting laptop only with adaptor.
Update us how it goes.

Appreciate the advice.
Unfortunately, it didn't work out. Since the first post I also disaassembled the hardware and replugged supply plugs for MB and video card. Before that I held the power button with battery and AC out.
When reassembling, I tried to start the laptop: w/o both HDD and SSD and without battery. SAAME SHIIT.
it seems weird, that no sign of BIOS(UEFI) or POST appears when the issue happens.... Appears to me, it could be something to pre-boot. Unfortunately all mentioned is my current knowledge limit - idk what exactly happens to PC when it is waken up untill the OS boot.
Will try now to reflash BIOS and to install OS in mbr mode then in uefi again...
