I've just bought a Lenovo 700-17ISK with a 1Tb Sata disk.
I want to add an M2 SSD, so i open the notebook and i did'nt find M2 port.
I've found on this forum many user who want to upgrade M2 disk, but is there an M2 port when computer is sold without SSD disk ?

Hi domolfax ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Generally , as per Ideapad 700-17ISK Platform Specifications :
Some: HDD / 2.5" wide, 7mm high
Some: Hybrid drive with 8GB NAND fl ash memory / 2.5" wide, 7mm high
Some: M.2 Solid State Drive (SSD), via M.2 card slot
For ideapad 700-17ISK type 80RV
1050 SSD Card(On select models page 40)
Compared to ideapad 700-17ISK non 80RV type (page 40)
The Parts List category of the hardware manual highlighted above would provide recommended SSD part number for you to choose if your design/ model would have the M.2 slot.
Hope this help answer your query.
Update us how it goes .

Hi domolfax ,
Good to know that you were able to verify your m.2 slot location.
Would yours be an ideapad 700-17ISK type 80RV or ideapad 700-17ISK .
You can have the MTM machine number (using your serial number to check here) for us to verify compatible SSD .
Likewise downloading the hardware manual from the support site , under FRU list would give SSD listed for you.

my ideapad is type: 80RV
Page 40 describe the way to add a disk.
How can i verify if a SSD disk is compatible ?
Page 27 : "SSD: 128 GB/256 GB"
Is this limit always present?
My goal is to install a 1tb SSD Disk. I hope to install it on M2 port (to keep 1 to sata)
- bigger disk on M2 (1tb ? ) and HDD 1tb (sata)
Alternative solution :
- remove HDD 1tb (sata) and replace with a 1tb SSD

Hi domolfax ,
Listed compatible SSD for type: 80RV (page68) for 700-15ISK
5SD0J46480 SSD,128GB PM951 M.2 PCIE,Samsung MZVLV128HCGR 128GB M.2 PCIE SSD
5SD0J46479 SSD,256GB PM951 M.2 PCIE,Samsung MZVLV256HCHP 256GB M.2 PCIE SSD
Personally I would rather have a test M.2 storage card to fit first and verify if the ssd is physically detected (may not be electronically active) before any purchase or have a local service center test the m.2 slot as such is only offered on limited models.
Maybe this option is possible in your end otherwise replacing the currect HDD with SSD may be a better.

I would like to confirm that the Lenovo Ideapad 700-17ISK (80RV) does have a M.2 Port.
The M.2 Port supports nVME and is 22x80mm.
I installed a Samsung 960 EVO 500GB SSD ( Model : MZ-V6E500 ) and it worked perfectly.
I didn't need to make any changes to the bios settings
I didnt need any drivers to install windows 10, it has built-in nVME support.
A clean install of windows 10 detected the SSD and the installation was succesful.
Lenovo support couldn't recommend this drive, I assume becuase they havent tested it. It definetly works.
Note: to install the drive you will need a screw with same thread as those on the back cover but only about 3mm long and the screw needs to have a flat head. ( m2 x 3mm ), flat head.
250 GB, 500 GB, 1000 GB
Sequential Read Speed
Max 3,200 MB/sec
Sequential Write Speed
Max 1,900 MB/sec
the performance test yielded results close to specs.
After installing windows, go to the samsung site ( link above ) and download files to get drivers and software.
