Lenovo IdeaPad z500 unable to boot to safe mode

Hi Expert,

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad laptop Z500 which is getting BSOD and the error is Driver Verifier Detected Violation, so I need to boot in safe mode to troubleshoot but I am unable to boot to safe mode. Having tried f8, fn+f8, shift+restart and f4 all not working even with external keyboard. Windows 8.1 here, there is a one key recovery but it will remove all but data, the laptop don’t come with CD or USB. Appericate if anyone can assist me on.

Thanks

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad z500 unable to boot to safe mode

Hi xchiazyx

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can try forcing Windows 8 to go to advance boot by turning it on/ off 2-3 times. Soon as you feel that Windows is starting, press and hold down the power button until it turns off. Tunr it back on and do the same process until a new prompt shows offering advance repair.

Another option is downloading a Windows 8 ISO image and boot from there. Follow the usual prompt until message box "Install Now" shows and look for the "Repair " option below to launch the advance options to troubleshoot.

Last advise if the above fail is to remove the harddrive and slave it on another pc or enclosure to back up your data.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Regards
