Lenovo Ideapad y510p Speaker Problem

My speakers were working fine, then I stepped away from my computer and neither is working now. The headphone jack works. But the left speaker just makes a popping noise. I've uninstalled and then reinstalled the drivers, but that did not fix the issue. I just bought this laptop a little over a month ago, so I'll be really disappointed if this is a hardware issue.

Re: Lenovo Ideapad y510p Speaker Problem

Hi Leapingnarwhal,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I’m sorry to hear that your Y510p Laptop Audio through internal speakers are not working as expected even after re-installing the Audio drivers, I suggest you to perform System restore in the computer, below are the links to perform System restore in Windows 7 & Windows 8.

Hope this helps!!!

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Well i do have the same problem but if you touch the case over the jack plugs it can come and go away, so this is probably bad ground on the audio card.

Re: Lenovo Ideapad y510p Speaker Problem

Hi Rune,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I’m sorry to hear that the same issue has occurred in your Laptop as well, I understand that the issue might be hardware related to get it confirmed. Please re-install the audio drivers and if the issue is same performing the “System Restore” in the computer as mentioned in the above post will confirm the issue.

Hope to hear back soon

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Re: Lenovo Ideapad y510p Speaker Problem

Hello
Well at the current moment I can't do that because of exam etc, otherwise I would already have done that and from what I have read it's a lot of people who have this problem so something is generally wrong with the design / wiring, so a new laptop wouldn't probably fix the problem.

Re: Lenovo Ideapad y510p Speaker Problem

leapingnarwhal and rune-d,

I have a y410p and would notice popping sounds when Fedora 19 was booting up though not while running windows 8 so I'd be interested to hear whether or not there is a link between what I assumed to be Linux being strange and your apparent hardware problem
