Re: Lenovo Ideapad y510p Speaker Problem

Hi AmericanBear,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I understand your concern, but please check if the Volume levels of the Left & Right speakers are same in Control Panel>Sound>Playback Devices>Double click on the Default Speaker Icon>Levels>Balance. Please let me know the findings.

Hope to hear back soon

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Re: Lenovo Ideapad y510p Speaker Problem

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. Both speakers have a volume level of 6. So.. i guess it's a hardware problem Smiley Sad

Re: Lenovo Ideapad y510p Speaker Problem

My y510p is a few weeks old and now I am having the same problem as everyone else here.  I have recently just re-installed the audio drivers to be sure, and after a reboot, no change.  I can hear a small crackling when I play a video but nothing from the speakers.   So, appears like this is a hardware problem.  My blueray drive also seems to want to randomly open on its own as well, but that was tolerable.  Guess I need to send this thing in?  Not gaining customer confidence with these experiences.  Really liked the thinkpad where it was module and you sent us parts to repair in the field ... not so with this box apparently.

Re: Lenovo Ideapad y510p Speaker Problem

Hey everyone,

I hadn't really had the problem of crackling so much, but my left speaker did seem to cut out somewhat often. In an attempt to fix this, I've done this a few times and it's worked for me:

Control Panel>Sound>Playback Tab>Double click default device>Levels>Balance then with something playing turn the right speaker all the way down to 0 and the left speaker up until you hear a difference (or just to 100).

Then I adjusted it back so they were the same and everything's good now!

Don't know if it's the same problem everyone is having, but hope it helps,

-Jay

Re: Lenovo Ideapad y510p Speaker Problem

Hi Jay,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I’m glad to hear that the issue is resolved after changing the speaker volume levels, normally these issues get resolved by changing volume level settings and by re-installing Audio driver. Please feel free to post in Lenovo Community Forums if you have any further queries!

Best Regards
