Lenovo Ideapad z500 problem to boot

Hello all,

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Z500 taking long time to boot (almost 30 min)

The computer is stuck with black screen during 30 min, before the lenovo logo appears and then it boots fine.

Before logo, just a black screen and power looks good. The problem, the fans don't work and the computer gets very warm. Sometimes, because the high-temperatures, it automatically switches down, because temperatures, before seeing the lenovo logo.

With lenovo diagnosis software I have checked all the hardware, and the tools says all hardware is ok.

My os is Windows 10. Could you please, somebody help me to solve this problem? I'm afraid the heat of the start could harm my computer. Why this boot is taking so long before logo?

Thank you in advance,

ip

Re: Lenovo Ideapad z500 problem to boot

Hi my_computer ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you be having the same fan and heat issue before upgrading to WIndows 10 ?

The machine may be failing to identify correct thermostat control on WIndows 10 as this X500 model include hardware components not fully compatible with Windows 10. Therefore, upgrading these models to Windows 10 is not recommended .

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Re: Lenovo Ideapad z500 problem to boot

Hello,

I upgraded to 10 and fans and thermostat were ok.

I didn't want to put emphasis on that. This over-heating is a consequence of long 30 min boot, not a cause.

I'm trying to find the root of the long 30 min black screen before booting.

Could someone please help me?

thank you in advance

Re: Lenovo Ideapad z500 problem to boot

Hi my_computer ,

If this would happen to Windows 10 start up then best isolate it with cleanboot

Checking also scheduled task may help from either control panel or task manager and changing some maintainance task.

Update us and see if that helps.

Regards

Re: Lenovo Ideapad z500 problem to boot

hello, First of all, thank you for your assistance.

I have already tried those solutions. And I still have the same problem.

As I said, the black screen for 30 min stays before logo of lenovo. From Lenovo to desktop goes quite well.

I believe the problem lays on the initial first sequence of boot. Any idea why it stay 30 min in black before logo?

This same problem of long 30 min is repeated when my computer goes to sleep mode. It happens the same, 30 min on black. then login window. Any other idea?

thank you in advance

Re: Lenovo Ideapad z500 problem to boot

Hi my_computer ,

Greetings.

If doing all windows setting and troubleshooting done and still with the slow boot, checking for full diagnostic is ideal to isolate hardware issue just in case. If all test would pass , most likely compatibility with the system features and synchronizing it with windows  10 may be the issue.

Back up your data as much as you can and you can decide to simply start fresh with Windows 10

Technically , reverting to the original OS for non supported platforms are usually advised .

Regards

Re: Lenovo Ideapad z500 problem to boot

Hello,

Thanks for your answer.

I have already done a full diagnosis, all hardware components are ok.

Right now, I'm 100% sure is software bug. I'm doing research to look where the bug come from: windows or levono.

Best Regards,

Re: Lenovo Ideapad z500 problem to boot

Hi my_computer ,

Now we are sure that the hardwares are ok , you can try restarting the pc on safe mode since it would narrow down additional application and run windows on basic services only.

Event viewer and software debug checker tools similar to autoruns  can also help aside from sfc /scannow on admin rights (option3).

Update us how it goes.

Re: Lenovo Ideapad z500 problem to boot

Hello,

Thank all for your answers.

I just made the check in you asked for, and no problem was signaled.

I made a refreshment with windows 10, keeping my files, and another hardware test. No hardware problems or software bugs ware signaled.

After some experiments, I realized, the more empty my harddisk is, the shorter it takes to boot (from 1h to 40 min...)

Could it be somehow related with a chech memory before booting or something? Otherwise, I guess the problem comes from the BIOS..

Thanks for your assistance

Re: Lenovo Ideapad z500 problem to boot

Hi my_computer ,

Greetings.

For the purpose of isolation , since we are cleared with both hardwares and system file with the bug checker.

We can try disabling superfetch and see how it would go. This is modifiable and you can undo easily if it would not help speed up the boot but still worth a try specially if ot works faster after a restart in safe mode.

Any anti virus can also affect it so just in case , you can have them temporarily disabled to test.

Update us how it goes.

Regards
