Lenovo Laptop Z710 Slow Bios Legacy Boot Time - Can't Change To UEFI.

2018-07-14, 1:10 AM

I've reinstalled my windows long time ago from 8 to 10. Now the booting/windows starting time takes more than 5 minutes.

And I get a second logo at the windows boot, as well as some lag/stutter before i login and enter my password.

I might have not installed/reinstalled the windows correctly or not installed it on the SSD or whatever the drive is called for my windows to load at proper speeds.

I've been struggling with this for a while and I really need help it really is a pain for a windows to load for 5 minutes
on each restart or windows start up...

And if its possible id love not to reinstall my windows again, if its possible to move it to the SSD that be great.

But...
There's another problem, I don't see any SSD on my pc, i might have removed in on install, im not sure about that.

When I bought this laptop the boot time was unter 10 seconds.

My Bios Mode is Legacy can it be that and can someone tell me how to fix that?

Ill provide some screenshots of my drives/system and if anyone can help me it will be much appreciated.

I tried booting on UEFI and it failed.

EDIT: So i found a solution that I havent tried it yet this is it:
Enter to the BIOS:
1st step: go to bios -security -disable secure boot then
2nd step (this wont appear if you dont do the first step) -Advance Tab -System configuration -Change Boot mode from UEFI Boot to - CMS Boot -Save settings and reboot.
-Install new fresh OS

This last step is to install a fresh OS which i do not want to do yet.

When i try to switch my bios to UEFI from LEGACY i get this error.

You have  1 TB seagate HDD with 8 GB nand flash inside (SSHD).

Your available memory is 4GB out of 8GB.  Is your page file a fixed size? set it to system managed.

Set D and E to none and reboot.  Otherwise windows will create 3 page files on the 3 devices.

Task manager>performance

Check hardware reserved size under memory. Above 4GB?

Have you defragged the C drive?

Do you have fast start up turned on in power settings?

Do you have hibernate turned on in power settings?

Did you turn off page files on D end E drives? A external WD passport device is not good for paging at all.

Your system reserved looks fine.  Your available memory (2.8 GB) looks fine.  You have a I/O bottleneck at boot time.
