Lenovo Y 40-80 Battery Full charge capacity is very low

I've had this laptop for about a year and recently I've been having issues with my laptop's battery.

For the last two weeks the battery has been draining to 1% when putting it to sleep mode, even if it was fully charged. And I've noticed that the battery after fully charging has been lasting less and less. According to Lenovo Settings the battery can only store 11.42% of it's original full charge capacity.

Is my battery dead? Is there a way to revive it or who do I contact for a replacement?

(I still have my warranty)

Thank you.

Re: Lenovo Y 40-80 Battery Full charge capacity is very low

Dear Sir

Welcome to Lenovo Community

first of all lets do small troubleshooting steps, if its working ok if no so you have to deliver your device to the Service center to replace the battery if it still under warranty. ( find the list of service center link at the end of the message )

if you do not have the power manager or power management you can download it from the below link:

http://support.lenovo.com/eg/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Lenovo-Y-Series-laptops/Y40-80/downloa...

after installing you have an option inside called battery gauge reset, you have to make it night when u do not use the laptop cause this operation will take more than 6 hours to full charge the battery then difull charge then full charge again to refresh your battery, after you do that try your machine, if the battery still drains fast so you can visit the nearest service center to your place.

Best Of Luck

Re: Lenovo Y 40-80 Battery Full charge capacity is very low

In response to customer reports of unexpected battery gauge behavior on Y40-70 and Y40-80 laptops, Lenovo determined the battery gauge software is performing as expected. The unusual gauge results being reported are a reflection of the battery reaching end of life.

Lenovo has released a Service TIP to assist customers with obtaining battery replacements under warranty, or if out of warranty, to find a replacement battery from Lenovo-approved vendors. The Service TIP can be found here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/sf16-I0023

The part numbers for Y40-70/80 batteries are:

Y40 SP/A L13M4P01 7.4V48Wh 4cell bty (Y40-70/Y40-80) 121500248

Y40 LG L13L4P01 7.4V48Wh 4cell bty (Y40-70/Y40-80) 121500249 substitute part 121500251

Y40 CP/C L13C4P01 7.4V48Wh 4cell bty (Y40-70/Y40-80) 121500259 substitute part 121500251

To determine which battery came with your Y40 notebook, instructions for removing the bottom cover can be found in the Hardware Maintenance Manual pdf here. An alternative to opening your system (which does not void warranty) is to search for batteries using the model/product number located on the bottom cover.
