Lenovo Y40 Problem

Hello, From INDIA here....

I'm a Y40-80 user since 2.5 years. Got it from US back then!

specs: i7 5th gen, 1 TB HDD (WD), 2 GB Radeon R9 M375 graphics, 8 GB RAM (i have upgraded it to 12 GB now!)

Since last few months my laptop is getting really really slow, The laptop speed is decreasing gradually since past 2 years..i have reset the system around 3-4 times till now. FIle transfer speed will be as low as 10mbps, and when file transfer takes place i cant use the system at all, it gets stuck and doesn't respond if i try to open any other folder/software. !

It always shows 100% disk usage (I have tried disabling cortana and superfetch in services, no use). The laptop (Fan to be precise) makes hell of sound while playing a game or when i try to operate 3-4 tasks at the same time. Even Gaming experience has turned pathetic, Every 20 mins the game enters super slow/stutter motion mode...... (Everything in the game lags starting from voice to graphics, i pause the game for 3 mins and then the game goes ack to normal).

Not just this I have faced a lot of issues..

My Battery failed within 1 year of usage and i got again from USA. International warranty was there in India, Since the product wasn't sold in India, The product wasn't liable for warranty in India.

The left speaker in laptop is making irritating kinda noise when the volume goes above 50, Noise which comes when you dont get FM signals !!

I'm a CS grad..I can guarantee one thing, No malware, No virus...I clean junk regularly. So i'm pretty sure that except for few big softwares and one good game nothing huge isn't there to affect my laptop.

Should i reset the system again? or the problem is something else??

My guess is either there is a hardware problem in HDD or RAM!, Please do reply and suggest!!

Thank you

Re: Lenovo Y40 Problem

Hi Uday_here,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I would suggest that you back up your files and run hardware diagnostics.

You may also try to use other diagnostics software for a comparative assessment like here and here.
