Lenovo Y410P won't turn on but isn't "Dead."

Hit power, keyboard lights up for about a second, fan spins briskly. Then the keyboard light turns off, the fan spins softly, but the LCD panel never lights up. I tried plugging it into an external monitor but no signal out of HDMI.

If I hold down the power button for 10 seconds it turns fully 'off.'

Laptop is fully charged. I've verified that the battery is well seated.

Re: Lenovo Y410P won't turn on but isn't "Dead."

Hi there, Atek             -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

You can start by flushing out all static, remove battery and AC adaptor and hold down power button for about 20 seconds.

Also, Try re-seating the memory & HDD modules & check if issue still persist or not.

Update us how it goes.

If it doesn’t work, likely there could a chances of motherboard failure. If it is under warranty I would recommend contacting Lenovo service centres and applying the normal phone techniques to get it replaced promptly.

Schedule a Call-back for faster support

English 24 hours a day 7 days/week

During business hours, you may also engage with live chat support.

Also, go through the HMM (page no 86) for part information.

Shashi. Replacing the motherboard got it to boot, but the repair firm wiped the hard drive and the recovery partition.

I tried to use a windows 8.1 recovery DVD, and I got it to boot up but it is asking for the Product Key, which I don't have.

What do I do?
