IdeaPad Y480 with GeForce GT 650M finally released Only one configuration with it so far, and it looks like the CPU got a slight bump as well, now it's an i7-3630QM. The screen sadly hasn't changed and is still at 1366x768 resolution, and I'd really like to see a 1600x900 version perhaps with a matte finish and perhaps even an IPS panel, but at least with the 650M you'll have enough power to drive a nice external monitor if you happen to have one while you're gaming at home.

Yes, a larger monitor will put more workload on the GPU. However the GT 650M is a very capable graphics card so you should be able to get decent framerates on most modern games even using an external 1080p monitor. Just don't get the configurations with the GT 640M LE as it's a rebranded last-generation card and much less potent (and power efficient) than the GT 650M.

what happened to your memory upgrade? i was thinking of upgrading the memory too and thinking of getting ram which are CL11 and 1.35V specs. not sure if this will be enough factor to consider though.
