Lenovo Y50-70 black screen and TERRIBLE website/support



I have finally managed to (hopefully) reach somone who can help me. It is impossible to find a direct email to reach someone to help without making an international call.


I have purchased my Lenovo Y50-70 in the USA (North Carolina) in Nov 2014. 

I moved to New Zealand in Jan 2015. My laptop started giving problems around May 2016.

My warranty has expired, but I would still like to have it repaired. It is just shocking that the warranty is 1 year and the laptop has issues after less that two years.


I had a Lenovo before and it lasted 8years without problems...So don't understand how the newer models don't make it to a couple of years??


Lenovo Autralia or New Zealand can't help me because they can't get parts and don't honour any international warranties.


My laptop swithches on, the fan runs, the power light blinks and the keyboard lights up, but the screen stays black. A few times after switching it on and off it worked, but as soon as I switched it off and on after that it does the same thing. Ultimately it stopped showing any display at all. I have connected it to another monitor, but that also remains black.


Lenovo states they are continually working on making customer service better, but I have wasted hours of my time trying to reach anyone who can help. It would be really helpful to have a direct email address for international support.

Welcome to the Forums Mel.


  1. Unplug AC adapter (remove from notebook).
  2. Remove main battery
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds (power drain)
  4. Replace main battery
  5. Replace AC adapter
