Lenovo Y50-70 flickering screen - repair DIDNT fix it!

So for a while I have a flickering screen issue with my Lenovo Y50-70 laptop. This was more of a disturbance rather than an obstructing problem, but at some point it became progressively irritating that I went to send this to Lenovo (via the retailer) for repair.

More than three weeks later, I recieve my laptop back, I was excited it the problem was solved... it was NOT. The screen is still flickering, and my friend also reports that he sent it for repair and didn't get his problem solved.

What exactly is going on with this? If this is a wide-spread fabrication problem, what is there so hard about fixing it? How can we fix it that Lenovo appearantly cannot? Because in all honesty, I don't want to be without computer for ANOTHER 3 weeks because I also have work to do on it.

Hi there, Knuffel         -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Does the flickering happen using an external monitor as well?

You should try and update the BIOS to the latest version. Click here for latest version.

Update us how it goes.

Hey,

No, it doesn't happen on an external monitor. It's only on this screen.

I've already tried so many things to solve this, I don't know anymore what's the cause.

I've installed the latest bios update (7.7.something)

I've recently installed the latest Nvidia driver (for GeForce 960m)

I've toggled the power settings to maximum performance

I've even sent it away for repair while giving all the respective details!

I'm already in contact with the lenovo service report.

As well, the Call-Back feature is not possible in my country. it says invalid country.

I have run a full hardwere check with the Lenovo Solution Center, and both even the quick and selected scan do not reveal any malfunctioning hardware. As well, the flickering didn't occur during the stress test. It did, however, increase in severity these past days.

To fix the flickering problem, you should first check the laptop cables for loose connections. So engineer have already diagnosed and confirmed, it was not the lcd cable which is faulty.

Another possible reason for the flickering problem in computer screens is interference of magnetic fields from other gadgets. Yes, check if near your laptop, you haven't placed speakers, fluorescent lights, cell phones, radios and any other electrical device. If it is so, you must remove any such interfering electrical gadgets away from your laptop. Studies have proved that cell phones do cause screen flickering.

Re: Lenovo Y50-70 flickering screen - repair DIDNT fix it!

Hey there,

The problem I have with that solution, is that it will immediately forfeit my right for warranty repair. And I still have more than a half year of that. The only thing I don't understand though is that, if it would be a loose cable, how it doesn't occur during gaming.

And no, there aren't any other objects on or near the computer.
