The 's' recently started giving trouble I left it for a while and it worked again but today it seems like it has stopped working all together. I removed the key cap and cleaned under the key but it still isn't working. Will I have to get an external keyboard or get my keyboard replaced?

Hi LayneM ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
To check directly if it's physically failing with only a single key , I usually check it within the BIOS of the machine , under security tab for creating password to test the key but not saving it and just restarting without changes.
Options do include single key repair similar to this , full keyboard replacement as done for in warranty machines to call in technical support , using onscreen keyboard , using external keyboards and also reassign the s key to a different key using similar software like sharpkeys or tweakkey.
Update us how it would work best for you.

The Model number is 20378.
I've already removed the key and cleaned it and it still doesn't work.I don't think an on-screen keyboard will work for long term, maybe an external keyboard.
Would you mind better explaining how to check the individual key in the BIOS.

Hi LayneM ,
Going in the BIOS (outside windows) :
Turn off and use the Novo button (item8 page 3) to power on the machine .
Novo Menu would offer BIOS setup to choose.
On security tab (option to type letters therefore to test "s") create password
Note: this is just to check if s is working or not so no need to save anything and just exit out without saving or just press the power button down till it manually powers off.
If same issue on the s key not working, we would know that it's hardware issue and you may need to consider other options mentioned.
