Lenovo Y50 suddenly shut down and wont turn back on?

Greetings,

Today I was playing a game called Overwatch and I noticed that my laptop was getting pretty hot. This had happened before so I didn't think much of it. Then, suddenly, my screen went black and there was no signs of life for the laptop, even when it was plugged into the AC adapter. I let it cool down for a little while and upon plugging the AC adapter back in, i noticed that the power brick was making a ticking noise. I suspect that either the laptop just overheated or there was some sort of power surge to the computer, seeing as it wont turn back on. Help me please?

Thanks

Re: Lenovo Y50 suddenly shut down and wont turn back on?

Hi there, Filip –

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Any error you are getting on running hardware test?

Secondly, Overheating is a common issue in laptops, especially on gaming, because there is only 4 possibility for overheating of laptop,

  1. There may some software or malware that is taxing your CPU.
  2. Problem with PSU itself.
  3. Problem regarding Heatsink/Fans/Thermal paste.
  4. High ambient or room temperature.

Update us how it goes.
