Lenovo Y500 SLI Microstuttering problem

Hi,

I have a problem with microstuttering issues with the GT650M SLI graphics card. When I play games like Battlefield 3, Far Cry 3 or even Sleeping Dogs. I notice some terrible microstuttering on some occasions. The FPS I get is still quite good - somwhere around 40-50fps, but the stuttering issue continues. This problem is really bothering me, I wish someone can help me to resolve this problem.

Thanks,

Re: Lenovo Y500 SLI Microstuttering problem

http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/GPU-problems-Lenovo-IdeaPad-y500-gt-650-SLI...

read it and check how its gonna look in your y500 with switching tasks by alt+tab and other things you can find in this thread i linked, mamy smth that you find there will help you ?

first thing you can do is to switch off SLI and see how battlefield will run with one card gt650, i did it and got smoother game but less fps - at least gaming was better than on SLI

Re: Lenovo Y500 SLI Microstuttering problem

Out of curiosity, when the stuttering happens does the HDD access light blink?

I have the same problem - microstuttering in  Battlefield 3 and Bioshock Infinite, which makes these games rather unplayable. My configuration: GT650M SLI, i7 3630QM 2.4 GHz, 12 GB of RAM.

Same here. But I don't think Lenovo cares.

Re: Lenovo Y500 SLI Microstuttering problem

I've noticed this problem with Source engine games (Left 4 Dead, Dota 2, etc) among a few others. (I have 2x 750m) The problem is that the OS is detecting the resolution at 59hz, while everything else detects it at 60. I've found running in fullscreen windowed mode in most games solves the problem. However, in the case of Team Fortress 2 and other games that don't have a fullscreen window option, I've been forced to play them in windowed mode if I want SLI. The fix in that case is disabling SLI for those games. Sure, for a lot of games SLI is overkill, but it sucks that this problem is here. :/ The option in the Nvidia Control Panel is under 3D settings --> Set SLI and PhysX Configuration.

Re: Lenovo Y500 SLI Microstuttering problem

so you're saying to play games in window mode?

I played Just Cause 2 in window mode and it lags like hell, but luckily SLI doesn't really affect JC2 that much.

Re: Lenovo Y500 SLI Microstuttering problem

I've asked Nvidia, they haven't given me a proper solution yet and it's been 6 months.

Now I don't know what Lenovo's doing.....
