Lenovo Y500 pausing/AFK every few minutes

I have a Lenovo Y500 and whenever I’m using it, every few minutes, it kind of pauses/goes AFK and I have to press my mouse/touchpad to “wake” it up. It’s especially annoying when I’m watching a video and suddenly it goes to “sleep” or when I’m playing a game and it just pauses.

whenever it does this, my taskbar comes up and pressing the keys won’t do anything, only by pressing on my mouse or my touchpad works. Is there anyway to disable this feature?

Re: Lenovo Y500 pausing/AFK every few minutes

Hi LY500!

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums. Have you tried checking the Power Options if the turn off display is enabled? You may follow these steps to disabled it, and let us know how it goes.

  1. Open up Power Options in the Control Panel. In Windows 10 you can get there from right clicking on the start menu and going to Power Options
  2. Click change plan settings next to your current power plan
  3. Change "Put the computer to sleep" to never
  4. Click "Save Changes"

Regards.

Hi! May we know what is the current OS version running on your system? Try updating the BIOS and graphics card driver from this link: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ph/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-y-series-laptops/ideapad-y5.... Don't forget to indicate the correct OS version before clicking on the Drivers and Software tab.
