Lenovo Y500 takes 5 minutes to boot?

2014-05-12, 0:04 AM

Hello, I have used my laptop for almost an year now and for the past 5-6 months, I have been ignoring this problem and now I finally decided to fix it. I remember when I first got the laptop, it would boot in like 30 seconds, assuming it was booting from my 16GB SSD. But over time it has been taking ~5 minutes to boot up. I don't know if my SSD is corrupted or faulty over time. I tried SSD diagnostic programs and it says it is fine. Whenever I boot up my laptop, it would be stuck on the Lenovo logo screen with a loading circle going around for 5 minutes. After that, it feels completely fine and takes a minute or so to load to my desktop. Should I replace my current 16 GB SSD with another SSD? If so, any reccomendations? Thank you.

Try to temporarily disable Expresscache by doing the following:

1. Press the Windows key‌ +R, type services.msc and press Enter.

2. On the list of services, look for Expresscache and set it to Disabled

3. When done, reboot the system and observe.
