Lenovo Y510P - Right speaker is dying!

Hello!

So my laptop is out of warranty and a few days ago i noticed that the sound quality from speakers is decreassing. I than realized that only the right speaker is functioning very poorly (i can bearly hear it and its making crackling noises). Than i reinstalled the audio drivers - nothing changed.

So that must mean that the right speaker is dying! Where can i get the spare parts and which ones do i need?

Thank you!

Hi NeonCandy ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you have the machine number ? Check on the machine number from the sticker or check it from here ,just keep your serial number confidential.

The same Parts look up page would also gave you the parts listing. Reference guide on disassembly on page 64 of the hardware manual similar to page 88 , item 11 .

14 Y490 JBL Blade N Speaker(Y410p) 101500184 N

14 Y590 JBL Odyssey II Speaker(Y510p) 101500185 N

Hope this help answer your query.

Hi NeonCandy ,

You may check on the tech support number (choose the country for your location on the dropdown ) and ask for the Lenovo parts sales department for : Part number 101500185 Y590 JBL Odyssey II Speaker SPEAKERS INTERNAL

You may also search for resellers using the same part number for availability and pricing in your region.

This article discuss options to purchase FRU parts including quickpick option.

Re: Lenovo Y510P - Right speaker is dying!

Hey NeonCandy

It's going to be really hard that you can find these parts and then also install them correctly, but you can always try. Ebay is also a good source for Lenovo parts.

What I can suggest is test if decreasing and increasing the volume to full, while a song is playing helps the speaker play fine.

Otherwise, you might have to use some external speakers, if you cannot get your hands on these internal ones. I had a similar issue about 5 years ago and never found the relevant part. Thanks.
