Lenovo Y510p replace Nvidia sli with SSD

2018-05-21, 8:37 AM

Hello to everyone.

I have Lenovo Y510p and i would like to upgrade it with an SSD.

Can someone let me know if this is possible and what are my options here?

I could also replace my nvidia card with an SSD if this is possible.

Thanks for your time :D

The y510p is compatible with any 2.5"SATA SSD, which comprise a large majority of the market. You'll have no problem finding those.

You can also use a 2242 M.2 SSD if your particular y510p has the connector soldered on. The only way to check that is to open the bottom case and take a look.

Regarding replacing your Nvidia card with an SSD, if you're referring to the ultrabay caddy then yes it's possible. Simply yourself a HDD caddy from eBay or some such place, transfer the bracket from your Nvidia ulrabay GPU to the caddy and you're good to go. The ultrabay also supports SATA 3 by the way, so any 2.5" SATA SSD will work there as well.

If you need any clarification feel free to ask.
