Lenovo Y530 Idea Pad slow dialup connection

I recently purchased a Y530 Idea Pad and can only connect to the interned at 26400 bps. I have 2 other desktops

that are connected to the same phone line and they connect at 4100 plus bps.

Tried Microsoft support, and Lenovo support and can't seem to find any help.

Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Lenovo Y530 Idea Pad slow dialup connection

What connection type do you use? What is your scheme of sharing internet? What is your provider-to-you speed? How do you compare speeds (where do you see speeds mentioned by you)? Aren't there any typos regarding speeds in your post?

"Slow dialup"...heheh...Have you tried checking to see if there is a driver update from Lenovo or the Modem Manufacturer?

You could try "AT&F" at the advanced initialization screen for your modem.

Re: Lenovo Y530 Idea Pad slow dialup connection

do you know if it is 28k or 33k? what is the internet? if it is netzero, i can hook you up for about $29.99 a month, if you're not paying $35 a month with a 50mb cap.

Re: Lenovo Y530 Idea Pad slow dialup connection

 Thanks for your reply,

The dialup connection is a landline which I just move from one pc to another. I don't have a need to use them all at on

all at once. The machine I'm sending this reply from is using the same line that I plug into the Y530 and I am currently

logged on to ATT Worldnet at 40,000bps. they have a window which shows your connection speed.

I have the same ISP for the Y530 with the same connection window which shows it connects at 26,400 bps.

Re: Lenovo Y530 Idea Pad slow dialup connection

Thanks for your reply,

I'm not familiar with AT&F or the advanced initialization screen. Is that in control panel under phones and modems?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Lenovo Y530 Idea Pad slow dialup connection

Thanks for yor reply,

The ISP is ATT Worldnet and the connection to that service using the Y530 is 26,400bps. I just move the phone

connection from 1 pc to another. The other 2 machines connect to ATT using the same software and same

phone line as the Y530 and they connect at 40,000bps.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Lenovo Y530 Idea Pad slow dialup connection

Thanks for your reply,

Yes, I've checked Motorola drivers for this machine and they are the latest version.

Any other clues?

Thanks for your help

RE: Advanced Initilization

Click Start

In search box, type "Device Manager"

Click on "Device Manager"

Click on "+" to the left of "Modems"

Double-click on the modem.

Go to the Advanced tab.

Type "AT&F" in the "Extra Initialization commands"

Connect to your dial-up.

I have not utilized this in a very long time.
