Lenovo Y560, Solid State Drive and Hybrid drive

2011-02-23, 20:02 PM

I've noticed a few successes and failures when it comes to speeding up a Lenovo notebook. I too wanted all the speed I could get, especially for Photoshop work. I tried a 128 Gb SS drive but became uncomfortable with it. After more research I settled for a Seagate XT 500Gb 7200rpm with a 4Gb solid state (that's why it's called a hybrid drive) and 32Gb cache. My Startup time is 37 seconds for the complete bootup (not just a desktop screen but when everything loads)

I wrote an article for photos4clix.com about my experience. Bottom line, I would take the Hybrid everytime. You can click here for the article.
