Lenovo Y560 - can't turn on Wifi!

My Laptop's been fine for 2 years...when I'm on battery, I switch the wifi off via the switch on the laptop. However, all of a sudden, the Wifi won't turn on again! The switch isn't broken (I've moved it back and forth), and I've tried the software switch ( Fn+F5), but that doesn't work either! I dual boot Windows 8+7, and neither OS has wifi on. I've also tried uninstalling drivers/disabling the adapter via Device Manager, but no luck! I also went into the BIOS, disabled the adapter through there, launched Windows 8, then rebooted and reenabed the Wifi, and that didn't work either =(.

EDIT: Windows troubleshooting says "Turn on wireless capability: Use the switch on the front or side of the comptuer, or function keys if available, to enable wireless capability on this computer".

My warranty ended over a year ago!Paying to send in the laptop for this would suck. Help!

Re: Lenovo Y560 - can't turn on Wifi!

Try reinstalling the wifi drivers and the energy managment softwares. Just to confirm that is the wifi card showing in device manager.

Re: Lenovo Y560 - can't turn on Wifi!

As you are out of warranty, open up the vent of the hard drive which is below the heatsink ram vent. The wifi card is oposite to the hard drive. There are two cables attached to the half size wifi card. Reconnect them.

Re: Lenovo Y560 - can't turn on Wifi!

Although I've opened desktop PC's before, I've no idea how/where all that is for my laptop. Could you give me a more detailed tutorial? Thanks.

Re: Lenovo Y560 - can't turn on Wifi!

you should change the windows to windows 7 or try to active your fn+f5 key.

there is no hardware problem. software switch is deactive!

Re: Lenovo Y560 - can't turn on Wifi!

For me there was a switch on the front of the computer that turned the wifi on/off and it was switched off accidentally when i switched it on it worked again.

Re: Lenovo Y560 - can't turn on Wifi!

I have a Y460P.  Wifi stopped working.  Red X over wifi in the task bar.  Fn + F5 showed only a bluetooth adapter.  Device manager did not show any wifi device.  Tried downloading device drivers with no success.  I followed the instructions to open the hard drive panel on the bottom to find out which chip I had to make sure I was downloading the correct drivers.  In the end, all it took was to reconnect the two wires and suggested in this post.  Close it up. Reboot.  The wireless driver was reconnected immediately, and wi fi works.  No drivers necessary. Thanks.

And we're back...

Move delayed but still coming
