Lenovo Y580 USB problems

2013-02-18, 8:00 AM

Hi, like the title says having a problem with all 4 of the usb ports on my Y580. None of them are picking up any of my devices . I have tried updating all the drives incl chipset and all the usb drivers under the device manager. Something that I have picked up is under the device manager/universal serial bus controllers it gives me the following error.

3.0 extensible host controller

"This device cannot start. (Code 10)
{Device Timeout}
The specified I/O operation on %has was not completed before the time-out period expired."

Something else that's happening is also quite strange. The lights on my razer headset goes on but thats it. Doesn't want to play sound or work like my keyboard,mouse and flashdrive.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Resolve,

this method was suggested by one of team mates and really worth try.

1. Insert the USB device to a USB 2.0 port or USB 3.0 port.
2. Open Device Manager (click start > type Device Manager) > Network Adapters > Unisersal Serial Bus Controllers and uninstall all USB Root Hub and reboot the PC. When the computer reboots, repeatedly tap F2 to boot into the BIOS. When you're in, press F9 to reset the BIOS to defaults and press F10 to save and exit.

After the reboot,all USB controllers should be refreshed. Try to insert the USB flashdrive again.

Do let me know of the changes.

Regards

If the lights are going on your headphones, that means there is still charge going through the USBs, but however, the PC is not registering it as headset and headphones as it should be. So it's not the ports that are the problem, it is a registry issue. But is everything not working, because you mentioned "doesn't want to play sound or work like my keyboard, mouse, and flashdrive." Are those pehriperals that you are connecting and are working normally?

Just run the Intel Driver Update Utility before, to check if you "really" can install this driver on your machine?

That will help you with all your intel updates.     Yuri
