today I upgraded win8 to win8.1 but noticed that system starts definitely slower than before - what happened to rapidboot?
Any help will be appreciated,

I don't know my seems to start even faster than Windows 8.
In windows 8 startup time was like 10-20 seconds
In windows 8.1 somewhere between 5-10 sec?
Try deactivate some programs that are on startup

My update failed 2 times, poping up an error message saying windows 8.1 can't be installed and my pc is reverted back to windows 8. I think it is because of rapid start because I upgraded my pc to Windows 8 Pro from Windows 7 and installed the rapid start. using 32 gb mSata + 750 gb hdd version.

My problem is in service "Windows Live Sign-in Assistant". After boot my pc has delay ca. 45 sec. My solution is temporary but functional. Try open msconfig > services tab > uncheck Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant >restart pc
