Hi there, Hossainkh    -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Please be advised that Lenovo is in the process of removing the BIOS for ideapad Y700-15ISK, Y700 Touch-15ISK, and Y700-17ISK laptops in response to customer reports that the software does not execute as expected.

Once the issue has been corrected, a newer version of the BIOS will be made available.

Update us how it goes.

Is there a detailed report as to what exactly will be changed and when will this occur?

Thanks !

Hi Shashi.

Would you be able to speak to the team who are working on the BIOS or confirm if they will be removing the GPU throttle threshold or increasing it from 67 degrees. As you can probably see from other posts this is becoming a big issue for many of us as we have purchased this laptop to play modern games that are not functioning correctly due to this issue.

Nvidia themselves have confirmed that the GPU is capable of running at 90 degrees so could the limit be increased to a more reasonable 80 degrees or be altered manually by the user at there own risk of voiding the warranty.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Lenovo Y700-15ISK Bios Update

Can anyone confirm if the new BIOS for the Y700-15ISK released on the 18/07/16 has removed the 67 degree GPU throttle or atleast allowed for modification.

I am tempted to upgrade my BIOS but I have seen other posts saying that it cause more issues than it cures.

I am still struggling to play CS GO on this laptop on the lowest settings and with a laptop cooler for more than 5-10mins before it begins to throttle and cause FPS spikes that make the game unplayable.

Has anyone else managed to achieve a work around for this issue or a way to control the amount of drops whilst in game?

Thanks in advance.

Chris.

Hi Chris,

I have the same issue, just created a new topic about it. The only way I have managed to partly deal with the issue in CSGO is to reduce everything to low and set the resolution to 720p instead of full HD. I still get fluctuating fps, but my mouse does not lag when the fps drops.  I am extremely pissed off because I saved up money to buy this only to struggle playing a 5 year old game ....

Hello mate.

This probably isn't the best fix but what I actually done was completely wipe the laptop and reinstall Windows as a clean version so removing all the bloat ware.

Now I have the game playin on low settings and it seems to have corrected the issue as Iv not noticed any spikes recently unless I am using voice comms like Skype which significantly drops the CPU performance.

Not sure if that's worth trying for you?
