Lenovo Z50-70 RAM Upgrade to PC3 10600S

Hi all,?

I've obtained 2x Samsung 8GB DDR3L (PC3 10600S) RAM modules. When I put them in the laptop will not start up.

Are these not compatible or is it a BIOS setting?

If it is BIOS, how do you enter the BIOS?

Ta,

Ale-Ian-8

Re: Lenovo Z50-70 RAM Upgrade to PC3 10600S

Hi Ale-Ian-8,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The OEM recommended specification for the memory is:

16GB max / PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3L, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets.

10600s runs in 1333MT/s data rate. It can be a better option choosing a PC3-12800 instead.

BIOS can be accessed turning on the machine using the novo button but I don't think there is any setting available to change ram speed among the Idealine laptops.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

Hi Spidey101,

Should my Lenovo start up using the RAM I stated?

Re: Lenovo Z50-70 RAM Upgrade to PC3 10600S

Hi Ale-Ian-8,

I think you have tried it but it would not start as initially posted.

Upgrading to 2 pieces of 8GB  PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3L is a better plan.

Regards

Re: Lenovo Z50-70 RAM Upgrade to PC3 10600S

I have indeed said this.

I'd like to know if the issue is the RAM being faulty or not compatible please

Re: Lenovo Z50-70 RAM Upgrade to PC3 10600S

Hi Ale-Ian-8,

It most likely be not compatible with your laptop as the main recommended specification do not meet.

Best way to check is to upgrade with a PC3-12800 1600MHz  DDR3L on this machine and likewise to use the Samsung RAM on a PC3 10600S compatible system if available.

Regards
