Lenovo Z50-75: lag when typing

Hello,

Ever since I bought my (first ever) Lenovo (August 2015), I have often noticed that there is an annoying lag when typing, even when using simple software as MS Word or writing emails. Although at the beginning I thought it was just a matter of the system being outdated, it still happens on an off (sometimes it gets better, sometimes it is so unbearably annoying that I have to shut the PC).

Any idea on what might be causing this?

Many thanks in advance!

Re: Lenovo Z50-75: lag when typing

Can you please open Task Manager and see how much is the usage % of CPU, Disk and RAM when you are experiencing the lag?

Re: Lenovo Z50-75: lag when typing

Hello! Thanks a lot for your quick reply.

I updated the BIOS as instructed the day after your replied (by the way, I have noticed some small changes in the "lenovo" logo that appears when turning on the PC; is that normal? Or maybe it is related to a software update that took place almost inmediately afterwards...)
I decided to wait some 10 days before giving you an answer; although I have not experienced the lag anymore since the update, I receive a recurrent message every time I turn my PC on: "Your hardware settings have been changed. Please restart computer for them to take place". Any idea on where it could come from?

Thanks again for your support on the lag issue! Smiley Happy

Re: Lenovo Z50-75: lag when typing

Your BIOS may not be UEFI or you may not have switched it to UEFI (you may have a hard drive not yet formatted with UEFI enabled) also your BIOS PCI-express settings may be too old to cope with a new graphics card or too new to cope with an old graphics card. Either way windows is trying to control the bios by Writing to it or it’s not working because your bios is NOT compliant in some way.

Also, i had the same problem but after uninstalling the latest video drivers and installing an older version the problem was solved.

Re: Lenovo Z50-75: lag when typing

So, as I am certainly not an expert, here some questions:
- Is there no way to check if the BIOS->UEFI has taken place in this PC? Or if my hard drive was somehow left behind? (and if that was the case: can it be fixed?)

- In the attachment you can see the notification that shows up when turning the pc on. Would you still recommend me to uninstall the latest (how many?) video drivers? Would that not affect performance?

(Thanks so much for your patience and support!)

Re: Lenovo Z50-75: lag when typing

I would recommend contacting Lenovo service centres and applying the normal phone techniques to get it better assistance since doing anything would corrupt BIOS.

Re: Lenovo Z50-75: lag when typing

Hello again,

Will take my laptop to the service centre as apparently there is no phone nor live chat support for this laptop model neither in Italy nor in Spain.

Will keep you posted.
