Lenovo Z500 Intel Core 3632QM BGA VT-D SUPPORT

2016-05-26, 10:09 AM

Hey there.

I got a Lenovo laptop with the above mentioned processor.

This processor supports VT-D according to Intel: http://ark.intel.com/products/71670/Intel-Core-i7-3632QM-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_20-GHz-BGA

I'm running a V-sphere lab on my laptop and I've got into a huge problem.

My v-sphere says that my host doesnt have "Directed I/O (device passthrough)" enabled, which means VT-D is not enabled.

My bios version is 1.21 (latest i guess). There is no such option in the bios to enable, which is frustrating because in other computers it is built in their bios.

what are my options? how can i force my laptop to enable it?

Thank you, best regards!

Go to bios and locate Intel Virtual Technology and enable it (see picture). Download and install Intel Processor Identification Utility. Run it and check if Vt-x is enabled.

Virtualization is enabled, otherwise i couldn't run a vmware\vsphere.

I'm talking about that option which i don't have in my bios( VT-D tech)

I ran the intel utility it says VT-D is supported, but Vsphere\Vcenter says it is not enabled or such thing.

Intel Virtual Technology is the only option availalble. Perhaps  modding the bios might unlock the other options available.
