Lenovo Z51-70 fan noise

I'm the owner of a

Lenovo z51-70

Intel Core i7 5500U @ 2.40GHz

8GB RAM

Intel HD Graphics 5500
2048 MBATI AMD Radeon R7 M360

Unfortunately it has very noisy fans.. even if I'm doing nothing.. I've tried checking the activity monitor, but just some windows 10 process increases the CPU usage( to more or less 20%).. the Temperatures of the Intel Core are unstable, they can instantly reach 60°C (just for few seconds) even if no one program is running, ant that's really annoying.. I also tried cleaning the fans, updating the BIOS,reinstalling all the drivers, but nothing has changed.. what should I do? It's still in warranty but I need it for work, I can't afford to give it away some months..Sorry for my english, I hope to have explained it well.

Re: Lenovo Z51-70 fan noise

Hi there, Linpark –

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Some reasons for fan noise:

Fan is very loud when the CPU load increases.  Possible causes could be dried lubrication in the fan, worn bearings, or just a dust build up. Hence try cleaning the fan once.

CPU is running very hot. Applications like tp fan control can tell you the temperature of the CPU and GPU temps above 80C under load are high, and above 90C suggest that the fan or heatsink could be clogged.

Ambient temperature should be taken into consideration. PC will shut down during increased loads on the CPU or GPU. This happens when the CPU or GPU overheats - typically above 95C. It’s a protective measure taken as to not fry your CPU.

If you open up your task manager, do you see any processes that are consuming high percentages of CPU?

  1. Also run virus scan with the latest virus definitions and check for no viruses or malware.
  2. You should also install a temp monitoring program and post what your temps are.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Lenovo Z51-70 fan noise

Hi,

some months have been passed but the problem is still here.

I tried to reinstall Windows 10, I also checked for dust but the fans was clean.

The problem is that the cpu usage increases even if I'm doing nothing (for example the computer is sleeping and the fans run) ..  the processes that increase the CPU are Windows processes like Windows Defender.. and the temperature never exceed the 60°C..

I also noticed that software like TP Fan Contol and CPUID HWMonitor don't show the fans, is it normal?

I have attached the temperatures.
