Lenovo Z51-70 shuts down

Hello! I own a Lenovo Z51-70 with a Radeon R9 M375 graphics card. Faced a problem: when I play a game, the laptop turns off, and overheating is not observed (temperature 75-85 degrees). After turning off the laptop for a while does not turn on (turns on for a second and immediately turns off). After about 20-25 attempts the laptop turns on. It may be that the shutdown occurs after 1 hour of playing, sometimes it's 10 minutes. On the built-in Intel HD5500 graphics, the laptop works fine. I have changed drivers and operating system, it did not help. What could be the problem?

Re: Lenovo Z51-70 shuts down

Hi Lemmy_Kilmister,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Usually on such event, it is better to start with fan/vents cleanup and re application of thermal paste. Sudden showndown usually associate itself with the machine preventing damage and still possible for overheating. This is common for symtoms of taking time to power back perhaps it needs to cool down.

You may also consider running the machine in safe mode for more than an hour or even having it stayed on the BIOS screen to check if it will shutdown. It may take more than an hour.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Re: Lenovo Z51-70 shuts down

First of all, after the shutdown, I cleaned the laptop and changed the thermal paste.
Today I just turned it on, open the browser, and the laptop turned off. I tried to turn him on, he was turning on for a second or two, and immediately turning off. And only after 30 attempts laptop started to work.

Re: Lenovo Z51-70 shuts down

Hi Lemmy_Kilmister,

Greetings.

You should take the opportunity to back up your files while you still have it working. After the backup then perhaps you can isolate the issue having it turned off and then powering it using the novo button to have it stay on the BIOS set up screen.

Here, we can check if the dedicated VGA chip is the point of failure specially if that is disabled (switchable option in BIOS) is disabled.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Re: Lenovo Z51-70 shuts down

OK, I'l try it later.
Two days ago I have downloaded Lenovo Diagnostic Tool and started the GPU test. While the process of the stress test was 50%, the temperature of the GPU reached 100 degrees! Is it normal?
