Lenovo Z51-70 unable to burn/record dvd. Windows shows error: speed for disc may be too fast or slow

Hi

My lenovo z51-70 does not burn dvds. I tried various discs: DVD-R and DVD+R.

Recently when using DVD+R discs, windows shows error message during burning of new disc saying ' speed of recording is too fast or too slow for used disc' use another disc and try again.

Can you advise how to fix this, please?

My dvd drive is useless now. I can only read dvds but I am unable to burn new dvds.

Many thanks

Tomasz

Hi thonkisz,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Here are some steps that you can try specially if you have also tried different previously working DVD brands. To isolate more , you can try different burner like this aside from changing the burn speed.

I would not exclude probable hardware factors so using an external optical DVD burner. If another burner works with the same burner app then it may be an integrity issue with the drive itself.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Hi,

Thanks for reply.

Unfortunately, still no luck. I can read dvds but unable to burn new ones.

I have no external drive available to check so this is not an option for now.

I have tried steps you have included from windows support with no success.

Please advise.

Hi thonkisz,

It may need that we check it with another known good DVD drive or if you can use the same drive with another machine to check if it will do the same thing.

Regards

Hi thonkisz,

Great that all works now as we have been suspecting hardware failure and not just the error notification from the softwares.
