Lenovo Z510 update bricked the Bios, PLEASE HELP !!!

Hello,

I got an update from lenovo system update and I accepted the update. After the reboot, it went into the bios and I just selected "exit without saving". Then everything's dead now. The computer powers on, but it doesn't even show the Lenovo logo. When I try to go into the bios with that small button, the same thing happens.

Is there anyway to recover the bios with a flash drive somehow?

I found an instruction to recover the bios using the USB drive, but it needed a BIOS.PWH file which I don't know how to get for Lenovo Z510.

PLEASE HELP ME! I'm freaked out Smiley Sad

Re: Lenovo Z510 update bricked the Bios, PLEASE HELP !!!

Hi there, Yugi–

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Try clearing the CMOS (unplug the power cord and remove the CMOS battery for a minute). Or connect the monitor to the motherboard and see if getting signal. If yes, revert the setting in BIOS.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Lenovo Z510 update bricked the Bios, PLEASE HELP !!!

Thank you so much for your reply.

I opened the laptop and unplugged the battery and disconnected the adapter for the whole night. But still it's the same. Smiley Sad

Z510 doesn't have a motherboard battery, right?

I don't have a VGA/HDMI cable but I will try that too even though I don't think that will solve the problem. What could've been changed in the bios to break the laptop monitor and not the external?

Meanwhile, what's the next step that I should take if the external monitor didn't work either?

Thank you Smiley Sad
