Lenovo Z570 3rd generation CPU upgrade

Hello there. This is my first post, and English is not my native language. I have Lenovo Ideapad Z570 Intel Pentium Dual Core B950 2.1GHz, with 750GB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M (GF118M) and Intel HM65 (Cougar Point) [B3] chipset with 4GB RAM (http://itsvet.com/tekst/lenovo-ideapad-z570/5500/). I have already successfully upgraded it with Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2540M CPU @ 2.60GHz Sandy bridge and with additional 8GB RAM (8+4=12 GB in total). It works great, but I'd like to upgrade it with 3rd generation CPU. I have read a lot about this and found that it is possible but it depends on the BIOS of the manufacturer and . I'd like someone to help me with this, either to confirm it is possible with this configuration, or to advice me how to contact manufacturer directly, since I couldn't find any email address of Lenovo support regarding this issue. Thank you very much in advance and kind regards, Afrocuban

Re: Lenovo Z570 3rd generation CPU upgrade

Dear Rhamizz,

Thank you for your kind response. I'd like to assure you that I have researched way too many resources to find the answer, included the topic you mentioned. But, it just quotes the manual, which I already read, too.

And, the manual is from January 2011, and the first Intel CPU of 3rd generation was released in Q2'12 if I'm correct, which makes manual outdated. Also, for example, it was stated back then that max RAM for this model was 8GB (2x4GB), simply because then there were no 8GB banks, but regardless of that I succesfully upgraded it with 12GB.

Once again thank you for your support. Basically I just need to know if somone tried it.

Kind regards,

afrocuban
