Lenovo Z580 won't start

I don't believe this is a bios issue that I've read many others having and fear it's MB/CPU related.

On startup, I get the tell tale black screen that just hangs. No splash screen, but everything else sounds active. Caps lock indicator will light up when toggled, although somewhat delayed. I've tried hooking up an external monitor, swapping ram, pulling battery and just about everything else, but none of it was successful. I've tried booting with the Novo button, and that does pop up, but selecting any of the 4 options results in the same black screen.    Haven't had any luck since it first happened getting past the boot screen.

Anything I'm missing trouble shooting wise? Or can anyone confidently say it is a MB/CPU issue?

Re: Lenovo Z580 won't start

Hi there, Rmaulucci                -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

You can also start by flushing out all static, remove battery and AC adaptor and hold down power button for about 20 seconds.

Did you check with external display if issue persist?

Update us how it goes.

Re: Lenovo Z580 won't start

When I contacted Lenovo tech support, that was the one and only thing they actually had me do before suggesting I find local tech support to help me. That is the static charge clear.

I've also tried using an external monitor, but haven't had any success with that either.

Then. there could a chances of motherboard failure. If it is under warranty I would recommend contacting Lenovo service centres and applying the normal phone techniques to get it replaced promptly.

Re: Lenovo Z580 won't start

Unfortunately it is no longer under warranty. I'll probably resort to parting it out at this point as I've ordered a new laptop. Thanks for the assistance
