Lenovo ideapad Y510p SLI Crashing

2014-06-22, 10:54 AM

Hello guys,

I bought my Lenovo y510p for months ago, tried with several SLI games to run those. They all crash, and returns the screendriver has stopped working. I have the y510p with GT 755m sli. Any solution for this??

If I run without SLI all is working good.

Have you updated your video card drivers with the latest drivers from the Nvidia website?  Have you monitored your GPU temperatures to see if either of your GPUs are overheating?  You can try using GPU-Z to monitor your GPUs while gaming.

My GPU are fully updated. Will check GPU-Z and monitor it when playing my game. Will return back, when done.

Your temps look fine. One question, When did this problem start? Did you install something?

Maybe you can try a clean install of the graphics drivers.

For that Go to Control Panel >> Device Manager

Select Display and uninstall both cards one by one.

Your screen may or may not flicker during uninstallation.

The, go to Programs & Features and uninstall all NVIDIA related items (Control Panel)

Restart the system.

Install the latest graphics drivers from NVIDIA site.

---------------------------------

When a crash happens,

Can you please go to Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Event Viewer

In there check in the Windows Logs, what is the error/warning displayed at crash time.

You may see the error/warning in the Application or System log.

Please post a screenshot if you find the error.

The problem has been since I bought the computer. I first started out trying with BF4, it crashed, then Hardline beta it crashed, then euro truck simulator 2 it crashed.

Same error everytime, in euro truck simulator 2,

Screen driver nvlddmkm has stopped answering and has been recovered.

[Translated from danish] This is from the event log. Any specific place you want me to look there?

And in bf4 and hardline, getDeviceRemovedReason stuff. Alot of players have this error in bf4, might be a coding problem. But no one in euro truck simulator 2 have the same problem as me? And the most funny part is when I turn SLI off, no probs all running fine. Also bf4 and hardline. So it might be a problem with my computer...

Tried clean install, didnt work.

Can it be a hardware issue? Like the 2nd graph card is broken or smth?

I would recommend that you take out your ultrabay card and re insert it. Sometimes the card re seating can solve the problem.

Since you don't get the issue after turning off SLI, I think it's issue with ultrabay card.

You can watch my video for taking out and inserting ultrabay, if you need.

So I believe your system had win 8 when you received it?

If that is the case and you never installed the VBIOS update then please go to drivers and downloads and install that. (I think this may not be the problem)

This could very well be a hardware problem.
Have you checked the event logs?

I run win 8.1 and already updated the VBIOS from the driver site. Where to check in the event logs?
