Lenovo y40-80 Fan Runs Constantly After HDD->SSD

Hi,

I just upgraded the stock HDD/SSD that was in the my laptop to a Samsung SSD 750 Evo. I used Samsungs Data Migration software to clone the new drive before install. (Windows 10) Also at the same time I installed 4gb of Crucial DDR3L ram.

Now, immediately after powering up the laptop the fan starts to run. Did this the very first time after I put the screws back in. The fan runs constantly and revs up intermittenly.

Samsungs Magician software tells me the new SSD is running at 75*F. Resource Monitor tells me CPU running at around 4-7% normally without load.

Assuming fan thinks things are too hot. Is there a way to recalibrate it or reset the fan trigger points?

Hi StainlessBites  and welcome to the community,

Unfortunately there is not a way of reseting the trigger points for the unit. These are set in the BIOS and not user controlable.

Hope this help you and let us know how you get on
