Lenovo y50-70 High disk usage and freezes.

Hi folks.
I've a problem wiht my laptop and to be specific my computer slowed down boot longer than usual also it's show the high disk usage 100%. It appeared after Bios upgrade on windows 8.1
I updated windows to 10 , disabled superfetch & windows search, did chkdsk but nothing seems to fix this for me.

Hi B0RAT , 

 

Welcome to the Community Forums.

 

WIth Windows 10 , aside from disabling superfetch and search you can try to go to Settings> System> Under Notifications slide the bar to OFF "show me tips about Windows" then check on is any change.

Update:
The problem i was describing changed and now the 100% disk usage is only for like 4-5 mins after booting, and booting itself is longer. I have also disabled tips about windows along with superfetch that time so i think its not it :(

Hi B0RAT , 

 

Now we can start a clean boot on windows 10 and check on start up on to disable non essential apps. Clean boot would allow to have an clean slate from add on start up files leaving the ms files checked . Lets see how it boots after.

 When i did boot in safe mode the problem didn't occured and there was small hard drive usage, interesting..

Safe mode gives us basic drivers and resources , least we can try is clean boot it as directed on above link .

i Did clean boot and it was the same normal i mean 100 % usage for a like 3 min. Can it be normal ?

Hi B0RAT , 

 

Listed apps disabled after clean boot less affects the usage so most likely we need to narrow it down to running windows 10 services and maybe underlying apps.

 

Verify superfetch and search on disabled mode after restart and do the same for BITS background inteligient transfer service . You may for other steps here to narrow down or checking further on the resource monitor  as some windows built in apps may cause this like windows defender and browser services . 

 

For further isolation , would it be the same creating an admin local account instead of a microsoft account since ms account are always like to online apps and storage use .

Hi B0RAT , 

 

I would rather that you try using a local account first to test , then proceed to a Windows 10 refresh/ reset to still preserve the One Key Recovery features not changing anything on the hidden partition. 

 

Clean install may delete partitions that can affect OKR factory reset features.

Create your recovey media as safety net just in case .
