Lenovo y500 problems

2013-09-04, 19:54 PM

Hello,

Today I resived my Lenovo y500 and i'm not impressend.

The touchpad of the PC does not work right, the mouse keeps moving even when I dont move the touchpad + the screen has some problems.

The screen is some time pink or green, that depends on how you move the screen but I don't get the right colors.

I ordered the y500 because I couldn't wait longer on the y510 (delayed for a month) and I regret that.

What can I do I can't send my laptop back because I want without, my school started this week and they refuse to allow me to class if I dont have a laptop.

Buy another one from a differnt company and send this one back for a full refund.

It's pathetic that Lenovo takes a month to deliver these machines. I'm waiting on mine and highly considering buying a Sager instead and caceling my order tha's been delayed already from a three week initial delivery estimate. Newegg or Amazon deliver in less then a week! If I knew Lenovo took this long I would have never made the purchase to begin with.

The trackpad issue is known, I think there might be a driver update that might help you, try seeing if you can do that. The screen I'm not sure but seems like it has poor viewing angles, which I've also heard from other users. In other words, it's normal.

It's not normal...

I fixed ny trackpad issues by turning down the sensitivity.

The screen on the other hand, sounds like it‘s kaput.

Try going to the Nvidea website.

Click on...

Support>

Download Drivers>
Automatically find drivers for my Nvidea product - Graphics Drivers>

Follow the prompts...

This should update the drivers and flag any errors.

Also download the 2 nvidea utilities; they'll help keep the drivers current, by alerting you new drivers are available, and may help your experience.

I just opened up my Nvidea Experience utility, and here's what my alert said:

GeForce Experience 1.6.1 Release Highlights:
• Enables streaming to SHIELD on systems with CPUs below recommended specifications.
• Fixes missing audio when streaming to SHIELD.
• Fixes an issue that causes The Witcher 2 to crash.
• Fixes a gamepad issue when using Steam Big Picture.
• Fixes a gamepad issue on certain Windows 8 systems.
• Fixes missing system tray icon after driver install.

A new laptop shouldn't have any issues, and when they do, the call centers should be fully up to date.

If this doesn't help you fix the video problem, I'd return it for a refund.

Good luck!

Windows 8 caused my Y500 to be unreliable, with WIN7 Pro it no longer requires monthly restorations. It's not the Y500 it's the WIN8, or the bloatware...

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, I followed al the steps, the screen is still horrible and the mousepad is still a pain in the ass.

I called the store and they will contact Lenovo for me to get this fixed.

I regret I bought a Lenovo and I will never buy one again.
