Hi, I've been having troubles with my laptop screen. Upon reopening my laptop from sleep mode, the screen remains black instead of loading up the login screen. I've plugged in an HDMI external monitor and it displays fine so I know it is the laptop screen. Also if I restart the laptop, the laptop screen works fine. I've tried updating graphics drivers and adjusting external monitor options (Win+P) but with no success. Any suggestions on what I should do? I've had this laptop for a while now and there is no valid warranty.

Welcome to the Community Forums.
As it displays ok on the external as you would have guessed, probability of onscreen display and LCD cable /port issue on how it would receive power from cold boot.
To eliminate video drivers and power setting issue (assuming high performance is already set within WIndows ), try removing the harddrive itself while fully shut down. By default , lenovo splash screen and display apparent even without the harddrive. Connect the external monitor to check if display is also apparent.
If same issue , set BIOS on default F9 and F10 to save and exit then verify if you already have an updated BIOS before proceeding with reseating the LCD cables if you have the tools and skill using the hardware manual as reference.
